Best release of 2017 for Saucony I waited and waited for these shoes with great anticipation since I remembered what it was like wearing Version one a couple years back. I got back into running sometime after the second release so I never got into that shoe but during my transition of getting back into races I had put on many miles in the new Freedom Iso and the Kinvara 8. I would say this shoe sits somewhere in between; it weighs slightly more than the Kinvara and a tad less than the freedom, however, the shoe has enough flexibility and responsive cushion to give it that desired "pop" off the ground feeling, reminiscent of version one. I've logged over 200k since I got these just over two weeks ago and I must say I'm impressed. I usually burn through shoes quickly and once they reach 200-250k you can notice significant wear spread through out the shoe. I will say these shoes hold up very nicely, there are some obvious signs of wear but nothing that leaves me to believe that I've reached the half life of the shoe. The Zealot Iso 3 upper conforms to your foot because of the iso system, the mesh is breathable and flexible, the undercarriage provides a nice smooth, ride, one which is responsive enough for me to do speed work, nimble yet cushioned well, I can plug out the long runs too. If I was to recommend one shoe that I believe Saucony knocked it out of the park, these are the ones.

Return to Greatness Like the first reviewer, I've been a huge fan of the original Zealot ISO. The ISO 2 was (for me) a flop. The toe box was too narrow and the shoe felt dead. I've spent the last year stocking up on the original model since it worked so well for me. I tried out the ISO 3 a few days ago and it seemed they had fixed the ISO 2 problems and then some. After a couple of runs, one easy pace and one running 8 x 800 m intervals, I'm a big fan again. The toe box is a good width again, it's more responsive than the first model and still has decent cushioning but not spongy. FYI, I am a road runner who trains/races for marathons, halfs, 10Ks and 5Ks. I average about 40 mpw. The only minor thing I'd request is providing more color options. Saucony often intros shoes with a few colors and then brings along more color options later so I'll be patient. Anyway, nice job on this model and keep up the good work!

Great Improvements I was a huge fan of the Zealot ISO 1. So much so that I stocked up on them when they were discontinued because the Zealot ISO 2 wasn't cutting it for me. I'm happy to say this 3rd version is an excellent update and making me a Zealot fan all over again. The upper is excellent. The new mesh is light, it breathes, it's soft, and it feels more relaxed. I can see it accomodating a variety of foot shapes. If you have a high volume foot, like me, or like a little extra room, I think you'll like this update as well. This is also probably the best implementation of the ISO bands to date. I usually get hot spots around my 1st metatarsal/bunion area in most shoes. I haven't had any issues with this shoe at all yet, even on long runs. My only complaint is the sizing, which I'll touch on later. The midsole of Zealot ISO 1 felt a little firm, but in a good way. The Zealot ISO 2 felt "dead" to me. It lost that responsiveness and I felt sluggish wearing them. I always said if the original Zealot ISO 1 was a touch softer, and lost the first ISO band (around the first metatarsal), it would be a perfect shoe. This new iteration does just that. It goes back to the original cushion, but definitely softer, while retaining the responsiveness. I love it. If you're a fan of the Kinvara, but need more cushion, this is the shoe for you. My only knock on this version is the sizing. I generally wear a half size up for Saucony (Kinvara, Zealots, and Trumph ISO). I did the same with the Zealot ISO 3, but I'm not sure I had to. It feels a little bit longer than what I'm used to, but only at the tip. I'm not sure if they narrowed the front of the shoe, or if it's all in my head. I suspect if I went a half size down, it would feel too tight, so I'm stuck in between sizes. I would recommend trying them before buying. Great job, Saucony!
