Technology

8MM

Saucony 8mm Technology

Cushioning is distributed more evenly between the heel and forefoot in shoes with an 8mm offset. The result? Your body stays in a more balanced and comfortable position with every foot strike.

EVERUN

Saucony EVERUN Technology

A breakthrough in cushioning. Livelier and more responsive, with smoother landings and stronger takeoff.

IBR+

Saucony iBR+ Technology

iBR+ is a supremely lightweight but durable outsole rubber that enhances your shoe’s other cushioning elements.

TRI-FLEX

Saucony TriFlex Technology

Increases force dispersion over a greater surface area while also delivering optimal flexibility and traction.

Breakthru 3 Infograph

Cushioning

The underfoot feel and amount of impact protection provided by the compressing materials between the foot and running surface.

Support

The level of pronation control built into the shoe. Pronation is the inward rolling of the ankle through the gait cycle.

Offset

The difference in height between the heel thickness and forefoot thickness of the shoe.

Comparable to Boston 6 This is my second pair of Breakthrus. I owned the Breakthru 1, with the midsole that felt like a flattened-out superball. while I loved the response, I wasn't crazy about the cramped upper and overlays. And the 1 was not an everyday trainer for easy runs. The 3 is greatly improved, thanks to the Everun topsole. The midsole is still firm but the Everun dampens some of the shock. The shoe can be used more often as a result. The responsiveness is great. The upper is better with more volume. My only real complaint is with the heel which is too loose. You can ratchet the heel lock eyelet, but the upper then puts some pressure on the foot. This improves with some adjustment and break-in time. The Boston 6 has been a favorite of mine, but it now has a co-favorite in the Breakthru 3. I am looking forward to trying the Breakthru 4 in January!

Great shoe! I run about 65-70km, on the road, per week and this is a VERY comfortable and light shoe both for interval training and long runs.

Great for road or street running. I recently picked up a pair of these because I had just been using my trail running shoes when I ran in the city. I didn't think there would be that much of a difference. Man was I wrong. The switch to these when running on pavement was incredible. My feet didn't hurt afterward, and the 8mm offset really helped with my stride. I'm 6'7" and over 200lbs and these helped cushion each step in a way that took out the "thud" I was getting used to with my other shoes. I will never run on pavement again without them. I would highly recommend these to anyone, though especially runners who are taller, or heavier.
