These are terrific running shoes. I myself cannot run, but wear them just because they are so comfortable to my battered feet. My daughter does run in them and also loves them for their light support and comfort. You forget you are wearing shoes in them. They do run about a 1/2 size small, which is why I gave my original pair to my daughter. She says they are perfect for both recreational wear and running at the half size larger than her regular size. I bought another pair for myself one half size larger and agree. I do wish these were more available! I cannot find anything quite so light and attractive (non-neon!) and would invest in more for when these finally wear out. Best running shoe I have ever worn. Wish they had these 40 years ago! Daughter loves the pink/blue style. I wear the grey/blue

I am a distance runner (4 milers-marathons) who has transitioned to minimalist running shoes (3 1/2 years ago), and found the Hattoris to be the best minimalist shoe for me. I run about 3-4 days a week, mostly on roads, sidewalks and light trails. These shoes are best suited for this type of terrain, as the sole of the shoe is fairly flat, and can get a little slippery on wet surfaces.
The pink & blue Hattori LC is the third pair of Hattoris I have bought/owned. I really like the Hattori shoe for it's minimalist styling, color options & weight/feel (light#. The first two pairs I had were without the laces #velcro strap#. The velcro strap system works fine for me, but I wanted to try the LCs since they have a more traditional running shoe look.
The first pair of Hattoris I bought were great! I ran in them over a year before purchasing the second pair. I still have/use them as a back-up running shoe. I ordered them a full size up based on product description #runs a size small#. The second pair I bought were the same as the first #different color tho#, but I ordered a size and a half larger than my usual size, as I felt the first pair was just a little snug when wearing a thin athletic tech sock. Ordering the shoe that large was probably not a good idea, as after I had ran in them for about a month, they started to get a small tear in the thin fabric over where my big toe is. It eventually turned into a large hole that I patched up with electrical tape on the inside and outside of the hole so that I could make them last through the end of my marathon training and the race itself. I only had that second pair for about 3 months, and had to throw them away because of the hole in the toe. I feel this was a result of the larger sizing...my big toe/nail was rubbing the fabric where there was no coating #the clear plastic-like tape along the front of the shoe#, and as a result wore a hole in the shoe.
The Hattori LC I have had now for a few weeks, and overall I like them. I like the improvements of additional toe fabric strength, the mixed materials, & the addition of more "taping" throughout the front of the shoe. The shoe fits basically the same as the original Hattori. My only complaint about it is the seaming/stitching around the top of the shoe. With the use of the mixed/stiffer fabric on the shoe, it created a more rigid seam, and as a result, I have gotten blisters/cuts on the inside of both my feet-right below my ankle where the seam has been rubbing when I run. I think this could be prevented by wearing a higher cut sock, and/or putting some tape #masking, duck, or electrical) along the seam on the inside to make it smooth/flat. So far I don't see any wear at the toe where my second pair got a hole...I hope it stays that way?!?
