Rated 5 out of 5 by Great in mountain terrain I'm on my second pair and as a runner I've learned to buy a half size bigger than my feet. I ran so many mountain miles covering so many vertical feet I can count it all but these shoes have amazing grip, feel, and durability. I especially like the Goretex that helps keep my feet dry when I splash through the inevitable stream crossing. I was sad when I had to retire my first pair (which I still keep as a back-up pair) but I made sure I had a new pair first. Traditionally I've been I Nike guy but I love these Xodus 3.0 GTXs for the mountains I play in. February 21, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 Shoe feels great Saucony has a reputation of being a wide shoe. The xodus 3.0 GTX's width was more like Nike, narrow. It still fit great just not roomy. I will buy another X 3.0 GTX! Traxion is great, super cushiony, solid heel stability. January 10, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very solid shoe These shoes are about what you would expect: Heavy and durable with an outstanding sole. They are a great heavy duty trail show and good for slush, snow & ice. They make a great light hiking shoe as well. Compared to the Peregrine they are somewhat clunky, but they are meant to stand up to the elements and give great support. Recommended more for a half day on the trail or an hour in the slush over a 10K road PR. December 18, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Medium-duty shoe This is my second pair of Xodus 3.0 GTX. Very comfortable. I have a men's narrow heal, narrow mid foot & need a wider but shallow toe box. Xodus fits me well. The shoe is designed to more or less mold to your foot. If a shoe's support isn't right, I get bad knee pain / runner's knee. Knee pain with the Xodus 3.0 is not an issue. Traction is descent, but can hold wet soil within the tread pattern. I like the black and yellow. Laces are good. Xodus GTX tends to get warm easily. I'd wear a thinner sock in warmer weather. Long term durability is so-so. I'm 6'4" and do a lot of hiking (dry, wet, rocky & wet conditions). Boots and hiking shoes don't allow me to use a smooth stride. A shoe like the Xodus does. I can move at a good speed. After a few months of use my first pair started coming apart and the waterproofing (GTX) began to fail. Tip of the toe began to come unglued and where the shoe's upper meets the sole, it's separating. I can fit my finger in the weak points. The shoe is kaput. My knees are starting to ache. A lawn work shoe at this point. The shoe's tread is also kaput. It's smoothed out. Keep in mind this is after using the shoe on average almost 3 to 4 miles per day in all types of terrain. They have taken a beating, but have revealed the shoe's limitations. They're not indestructible or even heavy-duty. I'd label them medium-duty. They're definitely a trail type of shoe. Overkill for routine street use. I do like the shoe's features and what it does for me (it's hard for me to find a shoe that fits right & performs decently, so when I find one that works well, I stick with it), so I gave it another try. My first pair I'm contemplating returning to where I bought it (a reputable online outdoor outfitter). October 8, 2013
