An excellent spike for grass courses
I race a lot on grass and the shoes gripped to the surface very well. I raced two seasons of XC in one pair of these shoes. However, in my area there are a few sections of courses that cross some asphalt. Near the end of the second season, the left shoe's spike well that is on the outside of the foot on the ball of the foot actually bent became dislodged inside the shoe. An hour before my state xc meet, the entire spike well fell out, spike and all.
Other than some durability issues, I thoroughly enjoyed this spike and plan on buying another pair.
I recommend this spike for XC races with few or no asphalt. I do not recommend this spike for track races. And, if necessary, you can take the spikes out and use this spike for shorter road races.

Great shoes, I highly recommend them:
Excellent shoe; fits well, great for the worst weather conditions and grips the surface your running on very well. I live in Pittsburgh, which has about one less rainy day a year than Seattle. So our high school cross country meets usually include a thunder storm, and these spikes handle great in the worst of storms. The size runs a little large but I grew into them in less than a month and you will find the size running a tad large isn't an issUe. The four spike system is great, and is much more flexible than six-eight spike systems. My one complaint is the screw system for the spike isn't ideal and I usually end up loosing 1-3 at a meet, but spikes are cheap and not ard to replace. It would also be great if Saucney added some more colors so you could match you're spikes to the colors of your uniform/school. To sum up, it's a great shoe and I highly recommend it to any cross country runner.

Excellent Racing Shoe
Shoes arrived as promised and look just like in pictures. Shoes came with spikes for XC, which was great. I have used them for three XC meets already, and they feel great. Best shoe I have bought to date.

Good Cross Spike
This Cross Country spike from Saucony has everything anyone could want from a racing shoe. I is lightweight, and it hugs completely to your feet, but still allows for foot movement. The traction from the spike pattern is also great allowing for full use of your legs on turns. And it is also a great spike for both indoor and outdoor use, meaning you can use it as a flat really well also. I highly recommend this shoe.
