The shoes are lightweight and have excellent grip. - by , Sep 16, 2020

I actually bought these as work shoes. I work in the construction field and I wanted a lightweight shoe with good grip. I was hoping these shoes would be comfortable as I'm on my feet sometimes all day and so far these shoes have proved to be very comfortable. I just hope they last as long as the last pair of Saucony grid running shoes I had. That pair of shoes never fell apart.

for me, best ever - by , Sep 15, 2020

The Mad River TR2 is just a great trail shoe, and the best I've run in. The tread is I think superior to that on most other Saucony trail shoes, and other brands as well, which tend to get a little tank-tready. Tight but grabby, very sure on different terrains. I run on grass, dirt, loose gravel, and rocks, I haven't tried them on loose scree, but I think their support would serve me well there too. Cushion good, energy return likewise. The upper is now pretty dialed in: snug and supportive and I think a little more hydrophobic than the 2019 version. The current version is maybe a bit heavier(?), a little more snug. Dirt and detritus does not get in (so far). Colors are pretty underwhelming, but once they're dirty, who cares? Seeing them all grimed up in the morning is a perfect invitation to get out there again. Super shoe.

I am disappointed. Every shoe I have is a 12. I have order 3 pairs of shoes from Saucony, all size 12 and none of them fit. What is the problem?

Love the fit and feel of this shoe. The mix of flexibility, cushion, and protection is very impressive. I like the dark color also, my favorite trail shoe to date.

The outsole and midsole of this shoe are perfect and fill a void in the marketplace for a non-rock plated shoe that provides ground feel, and flexibility. All while protecting the runner with the right amount and type of cushioning. Unfortunately the upper is a complete mess. If the Peregrine upper was on this shoe it would be close to perfect. My issues with the upper are 1. Extremely sloppy The shoe has to be tied so tight. I have a wide forefoot as well. 2. Way to much cushion and stretch in the upper materials. 3. Very hydrophilic in nature. The shoe is like a sponge. I never even ran through any water and the shoes were making squishing noises from all the sweet it soaked up. I ran in the first version as well and hoped the fit issues were fixed by changing to a tongue style shoe, but that was not the case. Saucony please use this midsole and outsole but dump the upper. The market needs the Mad River 3 with Peregrine upper and last shape but with the Mad river mid-sole and outsole.

These sneakers are very comfortable and lightweight. I wish they had more colors to choose from.
