Technology

8MM

Saucony 8mm Technology

Cushioning is distributed more evenly between the heel and forefoot in shoes with an 8mm offset. The result? Your body stays in a more balanced and comfortable position with every foot strike.

FLEXFILM

Saucony Flexfilm Technology

A strong, lightweight material is melded to the upper, which allows for fewer layers in the shoe. The result is a seamless, flexible feel.

IBR+

Saucony iBR+ Technology

iBR+ is a supremely lightweight but durable outsole rubber that enhances your shoe’s other cushioning elements.

TRI-FLEX

Saucony TriFlex Technology

Increases force dispersion over a greater surface area while also delivering optimal flexibility and traction.

William great features in one of the newer models of the ride. As someone that I has been running for the better part of 8 years, I wanted to give my feet the cushion and support that it needed to withstand the vigorous activity. Once I became more involved in high school, I went to a specialized running store. Right away, as soon as I tried to Saucony Ride 9, I could feel how much of a difference a specialize shoe felt while running. The shoe was listed as a neutral, cushioned shoe, which helps give support to runners that land pretty much evenly on the foot upon landing. The longevity about this shoe was key since it offered solid amount of cushioning under the foot and help me not go through the soles of the shoe too quickly. Needless the say, I had no idea I would end up using this shoe brand and style for the following years to come. The shoe let me run endless miles on them for the following weeks and months. Once I had worn through them, I was just able to get a new pair and start on the same journey. Even now that I am in college and representing a new team, this has always been my go-to shoe for any sense. Whether this meant a normal distance run, or a fast pace workout on the trails or track, I knew I had the right shoe to support me on any journey that I was taking. The Saucony company knows that their customers expect a quality shoe that was go the distance for someone at different levels in terms of running. When I got the shoes, there were so many components of the shoe that I had never heard of. Featuring a seamless-like upper, that was lightweight and offered ample flexibility with the top of the foot, the Flexfilm offered a new and rewarding feel. The Ride promotes being lighter than its processors, which comes at an advantage for runners looking for a reliable shoe to endure the many miles one takes when training competitively. Eliminating the need for multiple layers to provide a stable upper, the Flexfilm is the better alternative for this shoe. Under the Flexfilm, there was a new kind of sole and padding that Saucony invented called Everun. This part of the product was like no other part of a running shoe. Two layers of this item was underneath the foot and made it feel as if I was running on clouds. The layer right beneath the foot offered flexibility with the foot, as well as the rest of the bottom. Compared to previous models and other shoes, the flexibility was 2 times as better and durability was 3 times better. After doing more research on the product behind the Everun, I found that the material was just Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) beads that were blended together through heat. The original product of TPU has been used for many other products that are used in everyday life for most people. Items like phone cases, or wheels for any object have been using TPU for as long as the wanted to have high durable products that did not need to be replaced too frequently. The part of the shoe that mattered the most was the rubberized tread that hits the ground first upon contact. They used Injected Blown Rubber (IBR) for the bottom that offers a different ride compared to other models. This rubber is made to be lightweight, yet still give a person the right support when taking each and every step. IBR was a newer type of rubber introduced to the world and reaped many benefits compared to other types. It would make sense that Saucony would want to use this since it was make customers, like myself, coming back for more. Environmentally, IBR offers little to none in terms of excess materials, and is made through quality molds created by the company. According to Dertex Corporation, there is no need for the die cutting, which makes for the minimal amount of excess rubber. As a whole in making rubber, IBR requires 20%-50% less energy in making this component. Once I became more willing to look at other shows that would show the same benefits as the Ride, but in a different way, my research started to grow. Every other show that I looked at across all brands that offered running shoes did not have the same features that I was looking for all along. I realize that the Saucony Ride 9 and any following series was the direction I was looking at the entire time. When I would talk to other runners that had newer models of Saucony and of the Ride series, I would hear nothing but good news. Basically, everything that I was already seeing for myself in my experience. Overall, this product earns a 5 out of 5 stars in my eyes. Looking at the actually materials and what was actually making my feet feel as good as they were has just been proving my point of wanting this shoe as a primary shoe to run in. As someone that hopes for a cleaner environment, this shoe helps make this world a better place. I understand what Saucony means when they say, “It truly makes every mile feel as effortless as your first.” It is one thing to try a shoe on and make the assumption that the shoe feels nice. It is different to actually know what each layer of the shoe means and how it contributes to the shoe as a whole. I would definitely recommend this shoe to anyone that was looking for a great ride.

DisappointedRunner Soles wear out way to fast. I bought a pair of these at my local running store, and was super excited. They are really comfortable to run it. The problem was how fast the bottoms of the shoes wore out in the heels. They wore all the way through the bottom part of the sole, and started to peel apart. These would be fine, if I had run in them for a full year, but I only got about 100 miles on them. It was truly disappointing to spend so much money on something of such poor quality. I had been a saucony fan for a long time, and this has changed my view of the brand.

SeaWolf Returning to recreational running after 10 years I'm a heavy person (178lbs). When bought these in mid summer 2016 I knew that I was heavy for them. However... I started to run/walk 5K twice a week. I managed to continue running during winter and now I just finished 10 miles under an hour without pain in knees, calves or the like. Certainly the 8mm offset worked really well on me. I had my reservations about iBR+ rubber and, although it degraded fast at first, the shoe lasted (almost) a year (I should have replaced them in December). The cushioning under metatarses and the flexibility of Tri-Flex were just right for my progression. I'm a road runner so, the durability of the ripstop was never compromised other than because of my sharp sky-pointing toe. The shoes are too cold for winter (0F), but if you loose them a bit you can fit thick merino socks that work wonders. Overall, very satisfied with the duration and comfort of the shoe, I may replace the insoles and start using them at home now. Currently, I'm eager to get a new pair.

Ron S. Great Running Shoe I have logged over 300 miles on these shoes and they still feel as comfortable as the day when I bought them. The ride is great and there was never any discomfort or apparent defects in the shoes. I would definitely recommend them for runners who average 25 to 30 miles a week.
