I am a huge saucony fan. I run about 50 or so +miles / week, and I have worn their road shoes for about two decades faithfully. Nothing fits me better. Nothing. I also have several pairs of older saucony shorts that are pretty identical in look to these. I’ve probably run thousands of miles in them and washed them nearly a thousand times (I’ve had them close to 10y). They are perfection, and I am so glad I bought four when I found them (and then picked up a couple oddly identical copies a few years later from a trendier, more expensive place that loves yoga leggings, but those haven’t held up quite as well as saucony. I also have tons of saucony Capri and long running pants - all loves). So, I was so excited when I saw these replacement shorts and bought two. Tried them on, perfect sizing (xs / 2 / 5’7”, #115), changes seemed acceptable enough, so I removed long removable sizing tags. Oops. Here are the issues: 1. the waistband used to be soft and wider, but still hung low and went over hips. I don’t mind the saucony elastic band - it is not a deal breaker, but is it an improvement or preferable? No. The other was more comfortable and offered a better fit over all. It also looked better made. 2. I am not a fan of the vents at the sides, where pockets might be but instead they pretend to allow air flow. I have had it once a pair of shorts that had this silly design caught on a branch while I was trail running, and ripped my shorts. It certainly doesn’t cool anyone down. If you run long enough to heat up and sweat, the sweat flattens out the possibility of wind blowing it open. So, it just compromises the integrity of the shorts and again seems kinda cheap. I have read elsewhere it contributes to ballooning at the hips for some people. I am narrow and flat, so it didn’t happen to me, but I could see how it would. Now for the DEALBREAKER: the ******* POCKET! Did anyone actually try these on for a run with a key??? Not a chance. At first I thought, great, slightly bigger pocket than before, will fit credit card and key AND life saving allergy shot (the tic tac size one). NO. I started with key. It BANGS against lower bum the entire run, even 12 miles in and sweaty, with clothes sticking to you, that darn too low and not reinforced at sides pocket whacks with every step. I tried with epi-med pack, wondering if fuller would help. NO. JUST MORE ANNOYING. I tried wrapping in tissue or hankerchief to soften blows. I just looked like a rabbit with angry tail, spanking itself. The pocket used to be in the soft, wide low waist-hip-band, reinforced on all sides and secure. You slip key in, one credit card or ID fits with it, and you never feel it, till you forget and sit in your car with it still there. But when running, it’s secure, immobile, and perfectly comfortable that you forget about it. These shorts look the same, they fit nearly identically, but remove the tags and take them for a test spin, and forget it. You get slapped with every single step. You can wear them only when you don’t need a pocket on the shorts you bought for the design that had a key pocket. And if you don’t NEED the key and ID pocket, shorts with it on back are not a wise purchase, as they are not comfortable for any sort of drylands, because the zipper digs into your back and bum with any core exercises. So, first time ever, I don’t recommend this saucony product, so sadly, as much as I absolutely love saucony and support the company a bazillion percent. Let’s just guess these were an untested rush as they were focusing on improvement updating their brilliant shoes from Iso- to Form-fit.

Light and breezy! - by , Aug 24, 2020

These shorts are so light and soft it feels like you aren't wearing anything at all! The split leg is great, it allows you to have full range of motion without being super revealing. The waistband is wide enough to feel secure but not bulky. The pocket in the back is the perfect size for a car key and gel. I consider myself to be a smedium (small-medium) sized person, I ordered the small and they fit perfectly and as seen on the model. I ordered the light purple pair and the midnight blue pair and the colors are so pretty!

Cute shorts, but they are way oversized. I ordered a small, and they look like they are two sizes too big.
