The Best Triumph ISO so far Let me start with the design first. The shoe has a nice look to it, but around the ankle it is a little on the bulky side. The shoe fits great and my first run in them was fabulous. The ISO 4 has a slight heavy feel to it but my heels never dragged while running in them. The Everun midsole was very energetic and responsive for the 6 mile run. Best part, no blisters! Saucony finally put some room in the forefoot of the shoe. My toes didn't feel like they were being squeezed during the run. I am looking forward to running a half marathon in these.

One issue...otherwise great shoe I have now owned all four generations of the Triumph ISO lineup of running shoes. After a couple weeks, great responsiveness, smooth transition and the Everrun under the toe box is a big enhancement. I have to say that overall this could easily be my favorite version, with the one exception of a production issue. Inside the left shoe, at the top of the toe box, there is a knot caused by extra material or a lack of production finish where the tounge and base of the laces come together. It is so pronounced, that it rubs the top of my foot near my toe knuckles raw. It has a materially different feel to the touch than the right shoe which is absolutely perfect. I was hoping that with some run time it would smooth out, but no luck. I’ve tried to trim myself, but can only go so far without compromising the mesh upper.

Mixed feelings If Saucony’s aim for the new Triumph ISO 4 was to make a responsive shoe they nailed it. This shoe with the full EVERUN midsole is very responsive. However, in making the shoe so responsive it has lost some of its underfoot comfort. The ride seems much firmer to me. As someone who now looks for a comfort cruiser this shoe is no longer that. If you’re looking for a responsive shoe this is a good one, but if your looking for a soft ride this might not be the best choice, I prefer the ride of the 3 over the 4.
