plogging
For Good

Good content from: Team Saucony

Global Running Day is upon us, folks.

This Wednesday, thousands of runners around the world have pledged to get out there and be active in their communities. (Seriously, check it out.) But here at Saucony, we thought we could do a little more.

Imagine this.

You’re running along your favorite route. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, it’s a beautiful 60 degrees with a slight breeze. And then you see… trash. A few cans here, a plastic bag there, maybe even a rogue traffic cone and you start to wonder, “Why doesn’t anyone clean this up?” Enter plogging.

A mashup of ‘plocka upp’ (meaning ‘pick up’ in Swedish) and jogging — plogging is the act of picking up litter while jogging. Already adopted by thousands of runners in Europe, and quickly spreading to the US (let’s get in on the ground floor, people), plogging is a great way to get in those miles and help the Earth along the way. All you need is running gear and a bag for trash or recyclables and you’re off! And in honor of this year’s Global Running Day, and our love of plogging, we’ll be donating 20% of proceeds from our US site on Global Running Day to Keep America Beautiful.

Established in 1953, Keep America Beautiful provides the expertise, programs and resources to help people end littering, improve recycling, and beautify America’s communities. As a leading national nonprofit, KAB inspires and educates people to take action every day to improve and beautify their community environment.

So get out there everyone! Log those miles! Pick up that weird brown mass on the side of the path that may have once been a cardboard box!

Trust us, future runners will thank you.
